Entrepreneurs in the towns and villages I represent are working hard and taking risks day in and day out, growing our local economy and creating jobs.
Last year, I celebrated the excellent work of small and family businesses in my constituency through my best small business competition. 30 businesses were nominated and thousands of votes were cast.
This demonstrates the high value the public place in their local shops, pubs, hairdressers – and dog training schools!
As I’ve been travelling across Broxbourne to hand deliver certificates to those nominated, owners and staff have been telling me just how worried they are about the changes on the horizon.
In my speech, I raised these concerns and implored the Labour Government to do everything they can to actually encourage businesses to thrive.
